Vintage Report : 2005
Margaret River - 8/10
A very good vintage. Below average rainfall in winter was followed by a mild spring and warm dry summer. Near drought conditions prevailed until late March when rain arrived during harvest. The Cabernet reached good phenolic ripeness and some decent wine was made. Some really excellent Chardonnays were made, mostly on the elegant side.
Great Southern - 7/10
A moderate and relatively early vintage. Heavy rains prior to harvest dampened expectations. Vineyards with open canopies and good drainage fared reasonably well. A mild spring followed by a warm, dry summer and even ripening season brought hopes of a very fine vintage. While white varieties came up trumps, this is a very mixed year.
